Recommended resources:

  • The Web Ahead - One of my favorite web podcasts to pass the time driving. Just listened to this episode lately and I think it's got a great message for humble beginners or web workers who feel overwhelmed with everything like I was mentioning.
  • digital people - This is the temp agency that's placed me in my last two jobs. They've been great to work with, I can't recommend them enough.
  • Code School - Here's my learning website of choice. This is by no means the only one obviously, but it's a great interface that helps a lot.

LinkedIn groups - one I would highly recommend they join is for paid members only. It's called "job seekers premium".

I started with this type of memberships because it made things easier for communicating with potential employers. I'm going to go on my computer this week, so I am not on my phone, and look up other groups.

They all have interesting discussions going on, and some agencies have people following the groups. I've been contacted by people from the posts I create in the groups before. The key is for them to be active in posting questions, and also commenting on other's posts, so they are visible.
