Maestro uses a custom deck of cards.
Dice
Maestro uses four eight-sided dice, color-coded for players.
Tokens
Maestro uses game tokens in four colors, color-coded for players.
Game play
Game play is turned based and sequential, as in many card games, with each player holding their own set of cards, concealed from other players.
In basic game play, players must Build the Pyramid in order to score points by placing tokens.
Building the Pyramid
In Building the Pyramid, players lay down Major Arcana cards, starting with Rank One cards.
When placing a card in the pyramid, the player may opt to place a token on the card, claiming it for themselves (or their team, in a team game).
When Rank One is complete, players proceed to build Rank Two, and so on up the Pyramid.
The basic game ends when the Pyramid is complete.
Variations include Escaping the Pyramid.
Escaping the Pyramid
Players must "escape the Pyramid".
How does this work? I don't know yet ... something to do with moving tokens, I suppose.
Yet another variation is Unbuilding the Pyramid.
Escaping the Pyramid
Players must "escape the Pyramid".
This involves removing cards from the table.
Scoring
The object of the game is to gain the highest score.
Scoring is calculated according to the placement of tokens.
