In Web Design and Development II (MGDP2050), each student will create an original website using responsive web design techniques.

Self-directed project

This is a self-directed project.

As students, each of you must set your own goals:

  • What is the website about?
  • Who is the audience?
  • What design elements?
    • Layout (columns, rows, whitespace)
    • Colors
    • Fonts

The website does not have to be a real-world website.

However, you should approach the project as if you were building a real website for the real world.

Text and images

You must use text and images.

If you are building a website which you intend to use, then you should make efforts to use real text and real images.

However, it is perfectly okay to use Lorem ipsum text and dummy images.

How many pages?

Typically three to five pages, but this depends upon the project.

If you project calls for exactly one page, and you can explain why, then one page is the right number.

If your project calls for "a lot of pages", you do not need to make them all.

  • Five is a good upper limit
  • Three is acceptable in a classroom example
  • Feel free to make as many as you like

Quality is the goal, not quantity.
