A media player is a computer program for playing multimedia files.
Description
Media players display standard media control icons known from physical devices such as tape recorders and CD players, such as:
- Play ( Octicons-playback-play.svg )
- Pause ( Octicons-playback-pause.svg )
- Stop ( Octicons-primitive-square.svg )
Examples
Mainstream operating systems have at least one built-in media player.
- Windows Media Player (Microsoft Windows)
- QuickTime Player (OS X)
