In The Elder Scrolls Online, as in many games with role-playing qualities, class refers to one of a set of mutually exclusive elements representing body, mind, self, spirit, personality, philosophy, goals, ambitions, social relations, and other role-playing qualities.
This usage is consistent with, and I assume derives from, the philosophy of Aristotle.
